Importing Snacks from Indonesia: A Practical Buyer's Checklist

Indonesia is one of Asia's most dynamic food producers, and its snacks are finding fans from the Middle East to Europe and East Asia. If you are an importer or distributor evaluating an Indonesian snack for your market, this checklist will help you move from first sample to first container with fewer surprises.

1. Evaluate the product

  • Request samples and test them with your target consumers.
  • Ask for the technical specification: ingredients, nutrition facts, allergens, shelf life and storage conditions.
  • Check shelf life at arrival. With sea freight and customs, plan for several weeks in transit. AVERA has a 12-month shelf life.

2. Confirm compliance for your market

  • HS code: AVERA Beet Cheese Crackers are shipped under 1905.90.80; always confirm the classification with your customs broker for the destination market.
  • Certificates: Halal, HACCP, BPOM registration and a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) per batch are typical requests.
  • Labelling: many countries require local-language labels, importer details and specific allergen formats. Discuss stickering or custom packaging early.

3. Understand the packing data

ItemAVERA standard
Pack50 g stand-up pouch, PET / ALU / LLDPE
Units per carton35 packs
Net contents per carton1.75 kg
Master carton47 × 31 × 22 cm (0.032 m³)

Carton volume lets you estimate freight per unit early. Gross weight, palletisation and container loading are confirmed in the quotation.

4. Agree commercial terms

  • MOQ and the flavour mix of the first order.
  • Incoterms — FOB, CIF or others — so it is clear who pays for and insures each leg.
  • Lead time and production schedule, especially before peak seasons such as Ramadan or year-end holidays.
  • Payment terms and document flow.

5. Plan for repeat orders

Ask about monthly capacity before you scale. AVERA's packaging capacity is around 100,000 packs per month, planned according to the final order mix.

Tip: start with a mixed pilot order to test sell-through, then lock in a forecast so your supplier can reserve production slots.
